Schedule an appointment with an Aviation Medical Examiner early in your planning. Your medical eligibility can affect the training and professional paths available to you, so it should be understood before you make major commitments.
Register With the FAA
IACRA is the FAA's online certification system. Create your account and complete the application for your student pilot license. Your flight instructor will verify the application as part of beginning your flight training.
Build Your Academic Foundation
Before flight training begins, develop the ground knowledge behind the lessons you will encounter in the aircraft. Flavored Flight establishes that foundation early and continues developing it through private, instrument, commercial, and instructor training.

Each FAA knowledge test marks progress through the ground knowledge required for that stage. Your score report identifies the ACS areas that need more work, which guide the review and guided concept explanations that follow.
Begin Flight Training
With the ground knowledge already in place, more of your time in the aircraft can be spent learning to fly. Each lesson adds experience and context to concepts you have already studied.
Complete Your Checkrides
Each practical test includes an oral examination and a flight portion. The oral asks you to explain the knowledge behind your decisions, while the flight asks you to demonstrate them in the aircraft. The work you have already done explaining concepts supports both parts of the evaluation.
